Why Sun Duo Helps Me Be a Better Father

Thanks to Sun Duo, my six-year old son now has a way of calling me anytime through our landline. These calls are mostly heart-warming. Yes, the calls sometimes make me feel awkward in front of business colleagues, but that's nothing compared to hearing your loved ones at the other end.

The whole great thing about Sun Duo is that I don't have to worry about additional phone bills for these calls. None. Zero. Believe it or not.

I subscribed to Sun Duo primarily to save costs in starting up a business and to allow business contacts with landlines to call me anytime, as if I'm in an office. It also allows me to call my partner who uses a different network for FREE. I did that by dialing the landline number of his Duo subscription in his network. Sun Duo to me was (and is) a great deal!

But when I got Sun Duo, I didn't immediately know that my family, especially my maka-Daddy son, would benefit the most out of it.

You see, Sun Duo is an added capability of a Sun post-paid subscription to also act like a landline subscription, at an added cost of only P250/month. With Sun Duo, you get two numbers in one SIM card: a mobile number, and a landline number.

What's exciting about Sun Duo is that any Sun post-paid subscriber can activate the Sun Duo feature simply by sending a text message to Sun (i.e., Text SDU (space) ON and send to 2738). Incidentally, this feature is available so far only in Metro Manila.

For that I'm grateful I'm in Metro Manila. While waiting for our Rotary Club meeting to start a few nights ago, I chatted with my wife, son and daughter. My son was the most talkative and inquisitive, asking me a barrage of questions like, "Start na meeting mo Daddy? Saan ba yan? Matagal pa ba o malapit na? Uwi ka na ba pagkatapos o may pupuntahan ka pa? etcetera etcetera"

As a father with a busy schedule, it crossed my mind that my relationship with my family runs through the wireless phone networks, and how will my relationships be without this mobile networks? At first it was expensive to stay in touch with home. Not anymore.

Prior to Sun Duo, the only way I could be contacted was through mobile phone. Landline was practically useless because everybody else had cell phones. We got the landline because banks, credit cards, mobile phone companies and everybody else was asking us for our residence home number.

Now, finally, the landline has some greater use.

Sun Duo's fantastic. It's a great facility to stay in touch with home and be a father while being in the middle of a fast lane in business. I can only be thankful this came.
