I'm back to Blogging! (Again ^_^)

Hey I'm back :) It has been more than a month since my last blogging post. That's long. When I put up this blog, I wanted to build a habit of posting once or twice a week. That takes focus and real will power; not because it's difficult, but because blogging isn't something you do with your kids around.

When I'm unable to blog, that's because I'm busy doing some real parenting work at home, after my work in business and service. (That's actually a lame excuse, hehe).

Thank God tonight I rediscovered my passion for singing. Singing felt like it was the only thing I love at home that I could do with my rowdy kids around. Reading a book? Nah! Watching a  movie? Nah! Blogging? All the more, nah! nah! nah!

In fact, as I was writing this, my son approached me to ask me if I was already sleepy. I said, "almost." Within ten minutes, he asked me to help him drive away a cockroach that went to the bathroom. Grrrr. Next, it was my daughter's turn to try to open the door to the room at home that I call "office." I stucked to my post and continued typing.

In my frustration today, I pinged a message to my Facebook and Twitter accounts: "When simple things you normally do at home (like mixing coffee) require a great amount of focus and will power; chances, you're a parent." Within 30 minutes, two people liked the comment.

Two people! How many friends do I have? Gosh, most of them can't relate perhaps, or maybe they're busy parenting too :)

So you think parenting is easy, huh? Not when you're the male half of the parent equation---the father who wants to focus on one thing at a time, even at home. Many things will try to grab your attention at home, and it can drive you crazy.

But parenting is very, very rewarding.

One day, as I was leaving home, my son called me from the window. "Daddy! Lab kita!" I asked, "Lab mo si Daddy?" My son reaffirmed it, "Yes!" That moment was a great reward for all the patience I have to give, and for all the patience that I will ever have to give.

Since I was already outside the gate, all I could do was blow a kiss to my son. My day was already made.
